What Price Purity? Why I Chose to Champion 0% BDDE Dermal Fillers

By Christine Cullis – Co-Founder, LUMIFIL®
In a world increasingly focused on
transparency and wellness, I believe the same clean standards we apply to what
we eat, breathe, and apply to our skin should also apply to the injectable
products we choose—especially dermal fillers. Long before it became
fashionable, I made clean, considered choices in my life: eating organic where
possible, questioning ingredient lists, and prioritising safety over hype - as
a mother of five children I believed it was my duty to do my best for
them. So when I co-created LUMIFIL®, I knew one thing for certain—purity could
not be compromised. That’s why, from day one, we built LUMIFIL® around a
defining promise: 🧪 0% BDDE 💎 100% Trust
Why
This Matters More Than Ever
There’s growing
awareness among both practitioners and patients about what’s not listed on the
label. BDDE (Butanediol Diglycidyl Ether) is a chemical crosslinker used to
stabilise hyaluronic acid in most dermal fillers. While trace levels are
considered safe by regulators, residual BDDE is a known irritant and can be a
trigger for oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, and immune
response—especially with repeated treatments.

LUMIFIL®’s 0% BDDE
formulation ensures: - Cleaner integration into skin tissue - Lower likelihood
of inflammatory complications - Enhanced safety for long-term treatment plans
and with the rise in patients starting injectable treatments in their 20s and 30s,
these concerns matter more than ever. You wouldn’t knowingly consume toxic
residues “in small doses”—so why inject them?
The Backstory: Why We Chose BNC Korea
When co-founding
LUMIFIL®, we conducted a global search to find a manufacturing partner whose
values aligned with our vision for safe, science-led innovation. That partner
was BNC Korea—a pharmaceutical-grade R&D and production facility known for
its purification protocols and zero-BDDE formulations. This wasn’t about
following a trend. It was about setting a new standard. Every client—and every
patient—deserves injectables that are not just effective, but clean, safe, and
trusted.
The Bigger Picture: Clean Aesthetics Is the
Future
As people increasingly embrace: - Organic,
hormone-free, or low-inflammatory diets - Holistic wellness practices -
Non-toxic skincare routines ...it’s only natural they start questioning what
goes under their skin too. At LUMIFIL®, we’re proud to be leading this
shift—combining medical-grade safety with clean beauty values. We’re not here
to compete on price. We’re here to raise the bar for the industry.
Ask the Question: What’s In Your Filler?
To every doctor,
clinic, and injector: What residuals are you leaving in your patient’s skin? To
every patient: Is your filler truly clean? Is it 0% BDDE? If not, it’s time to
think again.
